      FREE Management Course in March 2019: 'Introducing Technological Innovation and Computer Science in Primary School'

      Attention all school leaders in Dutch and international primary schools! Do you want to join a community of school leaders who are committed to introducing and expanding technological innovation, computer science and programming in their existing school curriculum? Stichting NewTechKids is offering a select group of school leaders the opportunity to complete a FREE-OF-CHARGE management course which will be offered twice in early 2019: January and March. (Normal price: 3500 euro plus 21% VAT per attendee.) The ‘Introducing Technological Innovation and Computer Science in Primary School’ is designed for school leaders who want to strengthen their management skills related to digital technology education. We welcome applications from school leaders who are dedicated to helping their students understand technology better - how it works, why it works, and how to think in order to create technological solutions - in order to prepare them for a world of constant and rapid technological development. School leaders from both the Dutch and international school systems in the Netherlands are invited to apply. This course will be taught in English so school leaders who apply must be able to understand, speak and read basic English. ABOUT THE COURSE The course will consist of three (3) in-class sessions and an online assignment focused on helping school leaders develop an action plan for their school or organization. The Stichting NewTechKids team will be on hand to offer expertise and strategic advice. Stichting NewTechKids will grant a certificate of completion to every school leader who attends all three sessions and completes an action plan.  Dates and Time: March 6, 13 and 20, 2019, each session from 10:00 - 12:00 Location: The three training sessions will take place at the Amsterdam Public Library, Oosterdokskade 143, Amsterdam (five-minute walk from Amsterdam’s Centraal Station). Program Sessions Session #1: Why and How Should Technological Innovation, Computer Science and Programming Be Taught in Primary School? Session #2: Developing Your Teaching Team with Training, Curriculum and Lessons, and Appropriate Teaching Tools Session #3: Planning, Budgeting and Finding Grants and Subsidies Course Requirements Participating school leaders must commit to: 1) attending all three training sessions at the Amsterdam Municipal Library;2) sharing feedback and ideas during the training sessions and on the Share to Teach online training platform; 3) developing an action plan for their school or organization by filling out an online form after each training session (can be filled out in English or Dutch).  APPLICATION PROCESS A limited number of spots are available. School leaders working in the Dutch and international primary school systems in the Netherlands are invited to apply for a spot. Selected participants are required to make a deposit of 200 euro which will be returned on condition that they attend all three sessions and complete their action plan. Preference will be given to:- school leaders from schools or organizations where at least two people apply to encourage peer support and collaboration; and- school leaders from schools in disadvantaged communities eg. Amsterdam Southeast. The application phase will close on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Stichting NewTechKids will select participants and inform them on a rolling basis from now until the start of the program.
